Free World U is optimized for user experience and functionality
on all major browsers and operating systems. However, occasionally users encounter
problems with using the web site. Listed on this page is information about the browser
you are currently using to access the web site and information that may help resolve
any issues. If you see a red "Disabled" message, please click the message button
for information on how to enable the function.
Free World U uses JavaScript extensively throughout the web site and it is required
that JavaScript is enabled on your browser for the web site to function properly.
If you see a red "JavaScript Disabled" message, you will not be able to access some
of Free World U functions properly. Please take the steps listed to enable JavaScript
on your browser.
Cookies are used by Free World U to store information and must be enabled. A common
issue with disabled cookies is the inability to log in to the web site. If this
is happening, please enable cookies on your browser by clicking the red "Cookies
Disabled" message and following the instructions listed.
If your browser is running slowly or not responding, your browser's cache may be
full. Before clearing your browser's cache, please complete any exam you are using,
since responses are stored in the cache and need to be finalized.
It appears that your browser is not upgraded to the latest version of Internet Explorer
used by Free World U. Though the Free World U web site works well on any version,
it is currently optimized for Internet Explorer 9.
It is not required that you upgrade
your browser to use Free World U. If you are using Windows 7 or Windows
Vista you can upgrade your browser to Internet Explorer 9 by following the instructions
below. If you are using an earlier version of Windows, like Windows XP, you may
upgrade your browser to Internet Explorer 8 by following the same instructions and
selecting Internet Explorer 8, since Internet Explorer 9 is not currently available
for these earlier versions of Windows. If you are using an earlier version of Windows
this message will read "Browser Optimized" if your browser is upgraded to Internet
Explorer 8. If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista it will only read "Browser
Optimized" if it is upgraded to Internet Explorer 9. Note that these instructions
may vary slightly over time as changes are made to the Microsoft web site, and should
be followed to their best fit.
To upgrade Internet Explorer click on the Internet Explorer link:
On the web page that displays click the Free Download link for the latest version
of Internet Explorer if it is displayed, or under Download other versions click
Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 or Windows Vista, or Internet Explorer 8 for earlier
versions of Windows. Then:
- On the web page that displays under your preferred language select Windows version
(32-bit versions are the most common. If you think your PC may be running a 64-bit
version, you can click the link "Is my PC running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of
Windows".
- Click > Download
- Click > Run
- Click > Run
- A message box will appear reading "Installing Internet Explorer 9 (or 8)"
- Follow the prompts to complete installation. The Browser Optimized message should
be displayed with a green "Thumbs Up".
It appears that your browser is not upgraded to the latest version of Firefox used
by Free World U. Though the Free World U web site works well on any version, it
is currently optimized for Firefox 6.
It is not required that you upgrade your browser
to use Free World U. Note that these instructions may vary slightly over
time as changes are made to the Firefox web site, and should be followed to their
best fit.
To upgrade Firefox click on the Firefox link:
On the web page that displays click the Firefox Free Download link. Then:
- On the message box that displays Click > Run
- A message box will appear reading "downloading"
- When the installation wizard appears close all open applications and follow the
instructions on the wizard
- After the wizard is complete you may uncheck launch Firefox now if you want to start
Firefox later, or leave it checked to start Firefox now
- Click > Finish
- If you did not uncheck the launch Firefox now box, Firefox will open. Navigate to
this page in Free World U and the Browser Optimized message should be displayed
with a green "Thumbs Up".
It appears that your browser is not upgraded to the latest version of Safari used
by Free World U. Though the Free World U web site works well on any version, it
is currently optimized for Safari 5.
It is not required that you upgrade your browser
to use Free World U. Note that these instructions may vary slightly over
time as changes are made to the Apple Safari web site, and should be followed to
their best fit.
To upgrade Safari click on the Safari link:
On the web page that displays click the Safari Free Download link. Then:
- On the next web page that displays Click > Download now
- Click > Run
- A dialog box will appear reading "Download information"
- When the installation wizard appears follow the instructions on the wizard. You
can uncheck start Safari after installer closes if you want to start Safari later,
or leave it checked to start Safari after the installation is complete
- When the wizard completes Click > Finish
- If you did not uncheck the start Safari after installer closes box, Safari will
open. Navigate to this page in Free World U and the Browser Optimized message should
be displayed with a green "Thumbs Up".
It appears that your browser is not upgraded to the latest version of Google Chrome
used by Free World U. Though the Free World U web site works well on any version,
it is currently optimized for Chrome 13.
It is not required that you upgrade your
browser to use Free World U. Note that these instructions may vary slightly
over time as changes are made to the Google Chrome web site, and should be followed
to their best fit.
To upgrade Chrome click on the Google Chrome link:
On the web page that displays click the Download Google Chrome link. Then:
- On the dialog box that displays Click > Accept and Install
- A message box will appear reading "downloading"
- When a new page appears thanking you for trying Google Chrome an Installer will
open. If the Installer box doesn't automatically open, it may be found at the bottom
left of the screen and clicked on to open it.
- Click > Run
- A dialog box appears downloading Google Chrome
- When the installation is complete Google Chrome is launched. Navigate to this page
in Free World U and the Browser Optimized message should be displayed with a green
"Thumbs Up".

by Free World U. Though the Free World U web site works well on any version, it
is currently optimized for Opera 11.
It is not required that you upgrade your browser

To upgrade Opera click on the Opera link:
On the web page that displays under Opera for PC, Mac & Linux Click > Download.
Then:
- A new page will appear with "How to Install" instructions
- On the message box that appears Click > Run
- On the Installer that appears Click > Accept & Upgrade

items are enabled
- Click > Close

- Under ActiveX controls and plug-ins, and under Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
