A Message About Evolution

We recognize that our users have a wide variety of spiritual beliefs and we strive to make all users feel comfortable using our system to educate their children.  One of the most common questions that comes up is how we treat evolution in our science subjects.  Evolution is officially regarded as a theory.  Evolution takes up less than 1/10,000th of our curriculum.  You can choose to skip over it or use it as you wish.  Every flashcard has a feedback link so if you feel that we should make changes in the way we present it, you're welcome to suggest them.

As a parent, you're free to teach issues surrounding evolution to your children in any manner that you choose.  We know that many parents are concerned with instilling religious values into the education process.  After we cover the core material in the California mandated and tested curriculum based on No Child Left Behind, we plan to develop an entire section on character development.  You can see where we have started by going to third grade social skills.  While character is largely a spiritual issue, there is a large body of factual information in print on the subject.  Most of the factual information lies in defining the consequences of behavior. We have observed that most children are extremely deficient in their understanding of behavioral consequences.  This will be a challenge to teach because there are far more people trained in math and English than in character development. Nonetheless, we will tackle this project.

The California standards for sixth grade social studies include the following: "Note the origins of Christianity in the Jewish Messianic prophecies, the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as described in the New Testament, and the contribution of St. Paul the Apostle to the definition and spread of Christian beliefs (e.g., belief in the Trinity, resurrection, salvation)." We cover this in our core program.

Aside from this, our program will be of enormous value in teaching conventional math, English, social studies, and non-controversial science, and lift a huge burden from parents and students alike.
